Boston Amateur Swimming Club - Fee Reduction
Decision Maker: Assistant Director - Culture and Leisure
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To reduce the hire fee from circa £2,600
per month to £1,000 per month for a 6-month period. After
which the price of hire will be the same as is detailed in the
Service Level Agreement
Reasons for the decision:
Boston Amateur Swimming Club has in place a
newly formed management committee that has needed to revise club
strategy and deliver protocols based on recommendations by Swim
England.
Without reduction in fees, Boston Amateur Swimming Club would cease
to exist from September 2024, due to its precarious financial
position with no reserved available for it to draw on.
Should the Swimming Club fold, the financial implication on Boston
Borough Council would, based on the 24/25 & 25/26 LOBTA
position equate to £23k - £34k respectively.
The reduction in fee would give the new Boston Amateur Swimming
Club management committee the time it requires to train up more
staff to enable the club to market the swimming club effectively,
giving the club capacity to support its growth without a
significant financial burden for a 6 month period.
