Decision details
Derogation of the Bus Station Departure Fee
Decision Maker: Assistant Director - General Fund Assets, Deputy Chief Executive (Programme Delivery)
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To waive the 35 pence departure fee for Boston
In To Town busses departing the Bus Station from 1 September 2024
as a direct consequence of ceasing to transit through the Strait
Bargate Pedestrian Area and diverting their routes from 1 September
2024
Reasons for the decision:
The Council has negotiated the cessation of
the Boston In To Town bus service driving through the Strait
Bargate pedestrian precinct; in diverting the route of those
busses, the commissioned operator would incur additional costs for
using Boston Bus Station that were not factored into the
commissioning process. It is therefore reasonable, justified and
proportionate to waive the departure fee for all busses having to
use the Bus Station as a direct consequence of route
diversion.
Alternative options considered:
Not to waive fees. Not considered appropriate
as retaining them would not enable the cessation of busses driving
through the Strait Bargate Pedestrian Precinct.
