REVIEW OF MAXIMUM HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARE STRUCTURE PDF 281 KB (A report by Anna McDowell – Senior Licensing Officer) Additional documents:
Minutes: The Boston Hackney Carriage Association (BHCA) had submitted a request for a review of the hackney carriage maximum fare structure. The last increase in fares was implemented in April 2018.
The report set out 3 options with respect to the maximum fare structure for hackney carriage vehicles. BHCA’s proposed increase (option one in the report) did not include an increase in Tariff 3. Two members of BHCA were in attendance and addressed the Committee to explained that this was because Tariff 3 only applies to 8 seater vehicles and there are currently no members of BHCA that drives that vehicle, therefore they were unable to provide a suggestion.
The Senior Licensing Officer showed Members that East Lindsey District Council include a note at the bottom of their tariff sheets which allows Hackney Carriage divers to increase their charge in the event of the price of Fuel rising above a certain limit.
It was confirmed by the Senior Licensing Officer that this would be the maximum hackney carriage driver could charge, but they are able to charge lower should they so choose.
RESOLVED: that Members agree officer recommended option 2 with the addition of giving hackney carriage drivers the power to increase their fair by 20p if the price of fuel rises about £1.80 per litre. |
