Election of Chairman Minutes: Nominations were requested for the position of Chairman.
Councillor Anne Dorrian was nominated by Councillor Dale Broughton and the proposal was seconded by Councillor Claire Rylott.
RESOLVED:
That Councillor Anne Dorrian be appointed Chairman. |

Exclusion of the Press and Public To consider excluding the public and press for the following items and if appropriate the Chairman to move: - That under Section 100(a)(4) of the LocalGovernment Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the Meeting for the following item on the grounds that, if they were present, there could be disclosed to them exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act (as amended).
Minutes: RESOLVED:
That under section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public were excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.
[The meeting was adjourned between 3.01 p.m. and 4.23 p.m. to allow the final interview and deliberations to take place.]

Recruitment and Appointment of Chief Officer - Director of Economic Development (To receive a report from the Chief Executive)
Minutes: Consideration was given to the report of the Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service which sought the appointment of the Officer – Director of Economic Development.
The recommendations were proposed by Councillor Anne Dorrian and seconded by Councillor Dale Broughton.
RESOLVED:
1. That the suitability of the candidates that were assessed through the shortlisting interview process on 8 and 12 April 2024, for the Director of Economic Development post, including the feedback received from the Joint Chief Officer Employment Panel be considered;
2. That the preferred candidate for the Director of Economic Development post be confirmed, and the appointment of the that candidate to the post be approved;
3. That subject to the above, any further candidates considered as appointable to the post and from these candidates a ranked reserve candidate list from which appointment offers will be made, should the preferred candidate not accept the appointment offer;
4. That no offer of appointment be formally made until notice of the proposed appointment has been given by the Proper Officer to Boston Borough Council, subject to Cabinet members and the Boston Borough Council Leader having not reported any material and well-founded objections within the time given for response;
5. That the Chief Executive be delegated to make offers of appointment to the post in accordance with the Panel’s determinations made under recommendations 2 and 3 within the report; and
6. That the Chief Executive be delegated to negotiate and approve the remuneration package for the post, noting that the remuneration package shall accord with the Council’s Pay Policy Statement and the Chief Officer shared terms and conditions. |
