The Cabinet provides political leadership and is at the heart of the day-to-day decision making process. It also has a key role in proposing the budget and policy framework to the Council.
The Cabinet is made up of the Leader of Council and 8 Cabinet Members, each with a specific area of responsibility (called a 'Portfolio').
The Mayor is not permitted to be a member of the Cabinet. Cabinet members are not permitted to serve on the Overview & Scrutiny Committee. Click here for more information about the Cabinet Members and their responsibilities.
