Information about Planning Committee

The Planning Committee considers and decides on some of the Council’s planning applications. This involves the Committee considering an application, scrutinising the information relevant to the application and then deciding whether to approve (with or without conditions), reject or defer the application. This ensures democratic scrutiny of important or large applications within the Borough of Boston and that decisions on such applications are transparent and accountable.

The Committee often considers applications for larger scale developments or where there is significant interest in an application.

The public have an opportunity to address the committee as a result of the Council’s public participation arrangements, the details of which are set out here.

At each Planning Committee meeting there is an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions. Here we explain the process for asking questions.
