Committee details
Boston Town Area Committee (BTAC)
Purpose of committee
The Boston town area of the Borough does not have a parish council and BTAC fills that gap, reflecting and representing the views of the residents of the town wards.
The Committee comprises the fourteen councillors who represent the town’s wards.
The Council has given BTAC the power and duty to conduct certain services and functions and so it can do this, it sets a precept called a Special Area Expense Account, which is paid along with Council Tax. In addition, BTAC supports initiatives that have a direct benefit for Boston's town centre, neighbourhoods and communities.
BTAC provides and maintains parks, open spaces, play areas, town events, public toilets and other facilities and services that are intended for the benefit of residents for the non-parished Boston town area. It also monitors and reviews the performance of services within its responsibility.
The Committee also acts as a consultee on major initiatives, projects and developments affecting the town area. Another responsibility of the Committee is to award Community Grants to town-based organisations and events.
At each BTAC meeting there is an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions. Here we explain the process for asking questions. Please note that this is in addition to 10 minute public speaking time, which is an opportunity for the public to attend the meeting and ask questions without giving notice of their question / comment.
