Public Questions to Council

At each Full Council meeting there is an opportunity for you to ask questions. Questions are not included at the Annual Council Meeting. Here we explain the process for asking questions.

Please note that this information relates to Questions to be asked at the Council Meeting and not general enquiries.  For general enquiries you should contact info@boston.gov.uk

You may ask a question at a Full Council Meeting to:

  • The Leader of the Council
  • Any Cabinet Member
  • The Chairman of any Panel or Committee

Questions should be received by us no later than 5 pm two clear working days before the day of the meeting. You must give the following details:

  • Your name and address;
  • The name of the person who you wish to address (e.g. Leader, Portfolio Holder or Committee Chairman); and
  • the date of the meeting at which you wish to ask your question.

Only one question per person may be submitted to any one meeting.

Your question may be rejected if it:

  • Does not relate to a matter of general interest;
  • Does not relate to a matter for which the Council has responsibility or which affects the interests of the Borough;
  • Relates exclusively to an individual grievance or personal issue;
  • Is defamatory, offensive, or frivolous; or
  • Is substantially the same as a question which has been put at a meeting of the Council within the previous six months;
  • or requires the disclosure of exempt or confidential information.

You will need to send your questions to:
