South & East Lincolnshire Traditional Buildings Design Guide

Presented is the South & East Lincolnshire Council Partnership (SELCP) Traditional Buildings Design Guide – The desire to improve design and prevent the loss of historic fabric is an objective included in the Boston Conservation Area Management Plan and Plan for Pride in Place. This is not just a goal for Boston, but is also reflected in similar reports commissioned in South Holland and East Lindsey. It is an established agenda for Local and National Planning Policy, and supports the councils statutory duties under the Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) act 1990. Thus, the SELCP Traditional Buildings Design Guide was born from a desire across the partnership to provide informed and consistent advice to building owners and occupiers championing the proper repair and maintenance of historic fabric. It is not a planning document for adoption but can be used by the council to signpost applicants, to steer and support future development and investment. The purpose of this report is to ask Cabinet to accept the SELCP Traditional Buildings Design Guide so it can be published online and used to inform design decisions.
